But we got a pretty perfect spot even still, here’s how: ? FIRST OPTION: Okay the first option doesn’t exactly avoid the crowds entirely but we still scored a great spot. Arrive early (at least an hour before sunset but preferably more). When you get to the castle, everyone sits along the wall facing the sunset as you can see at the end of the video. At the end of this top section there is a wall & another brick area beyond it. Everyone ends up overflowing onto this area anyway but if you get there early like we did, we were the first ones sitting here and found the perfect corner at the front. We got some snacks and wine and had a mini picnic while we waited for the sunset & watched the crowds flock in. ? SECOND OPTION: Climb up the castle from below! Walk down the Oia steps towards Ammoudi Bay (past Kastro Oia Houses) and you can climb the walls at the bottom of the castle to find a similar view. There’s a lot less people here, you will probably find a spot to yourself but the view is from a little bit lower. Still amazing though.
