Members of Mountaineering Club "Argentus Mont" after Monday's announcement that the windows of the mountaineering tower on Titov Vrv were damaged, yesterday they were there for a complete inspection and determined that people had largely demolished the interior as well.

In addition to the members of the club, a representative of the Commission for Mountaineering Lodges at the Mountaineering Sports Federation attended the inspection. Considering that in the past few years the members of this club brought materials for equipping the tower, the amount of material damage is also known.

"The tower was vandalized in the period between December 8 and 18, 2022. A lot of damage has been done by vandalizing. Based on the inspection, it was established that the vandalism was carried out by at least two people so that they could enter the upper floor in an improvised way. They planned to reach the top with solid equipment for burning plywood boards and tools for rooting and breaking," said Zia Jonuzovski, secretary of the club.

According to their inspection, one plywood board was set on fire and then by breaking it, the perpetrators climbed from the first floor to the second floor, causing damage of about 5.000 denars. With violent blows from the inside with hammers, the glass panes of ten windows were broken. Of them, eight on the second floor and two on the first, causing damage of 15.000 denars.

"On the second floor, with blows from the inside with a hammer, one window was completely torn out and the profiles were thrown out, damage of 8.000 denars was done. On the second floor, a window frame was broken by blows from the inside with a hammer, damage of 6.000 denars was done. The power unit of 3 kilowatts, with 10 liters of gasoline in it, was set on fire, causing damage of 20.000 denars. The ignited unit caused a fire and burnt materials and tools, which were involved in the vicinity, the damage will be further determined", emphasized Jonuzovski.

A metal table and two metal benches planned for the ground floor in the Tower were destroyed (damage of 12.000 denars), and apart from the demolition, the perpetrators also stole a cordless drill worth 5.000 denars.

"The dining table on the second floor was damaged by violent blows, damage of 4.000 denars was done. The equipment from the solar panel was damaged, the damage will be determined later. Other materials and tools were also burnt and damaged, which will be further determined during the clearing of the damages", informs Jonuzovski.

With yesterday's action, the mountaineers temporarily closed all ten damaged windows with plexiglass and wooden boards in order to prevent snow from entering the Tower during the winter period. The complete rehabilitation will be carried out next year in the organization of the Federation for Mountaineering Sports.
