Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali today signed a joint memorandum on the construction of the Belgrade metro between the Serbian government, the city of Belgrade, the Chinese company Power China and the French companies Alstom and Agis Rail, defining the rights to build the metro. , according to which the French will work on the electromechanical part, while the Chinese will perform construction work, said the MIA correspondent from Belgrade.

Minister Mali announced that the construction of the first line of the Belgrade metro from Zeleznik to Mirijevo will begin at the end of the year.

The first line of the metro should run from Makishko Pole through Belgrade on water, the city center and Karaburma to Mirijevo, in a length of 21,3 km. The second line will run from Mirijevo to New Belgrade and Zemun, 19,2km long.

The value of the contract is 581m euros, of which 127m euros are intended to improve the efficiency of the electricity distribution network, while 454m euros will be invested in the construction of the first metro line, provided by the French government.

The Ministry of Construction previously announced that the first line of the Belgrade metro, from Makishko Pole to Mirijevo, could be completed in three years from the start of work, while Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic announced that the first line of the Belgrade metro would be completed in 2028.

Representatives of companies from France and China, which will be engaged in the construction of the metro, said that the project is important not only for Belgrade, but for the whole of Serbia, and that it will be built according to the latest technologies.
