The Italian parliament will try to elect a new president tomorrow for the fifth time.

Prime Minister Mario Draghi he is still a presidential candidate, but his prospects have faded this week as many lawmakers are reluctant to back him for fear that any change in government could trigger early elections, Reuters reported.

Matteo Salvini, the leader of the right-wing League, told reporters that before Friday's vote, he would propose to the center-left parties several non-partisan figures who have a reputation both domestically and internationally.
