Johnson Matthey workers: There were protests, and a strike is possible

According to the letter from the employees, with new measures, the new director reduced their salary from 4.000 to 5.000 denars. Director Borozanov, on the other hand, says that none of the accusations are true

Company employees "Johnson targetsThey sent letter to the editorial office of "Free Press" in which they accuse that "after the change of the position of director from a foreigner to a Macedonian, the company" Johnson Matthey "has been brought to a potential collapse" and that there have already been protests in the company and a strike is possible.

According to the employees who sent the letter, the new director Borian Borozanov cut their 13th salary, above a certain limit does not allow paid overtime work, but only compensation with days off when he approves, and they claim that the day Sunday will not be paid as under the new law.

"These new measures have contributed to the operators having 4-5 thousand denars lower salary. After the measures took effect, the revolted employees started to stop the production process in order to make their voices heard. "The first protest took place on January 15 when the workers in the first shift decided to stop production because all their rights and benefits had been curtailed," the letter said, explaining that the protest lasted two days and that senior management employees who supported them were fired.

"Free Press" asked position of the director Borozanov, regarding the allegations in the letter from the workers.

- None of this is true. At the moment I am in meetings with foreign partners, but I am additionally available for a more detailed answer - Borozanov answered us.
