Famous fashion designer Mirjana Maric dies: She dressed Jovanka Broz and introduced haute couture in Yugoslavia

Famous fashion designer Mirjana Maric died today in Belgrade at the age of 84.

Mirjana Maric introduced haute couture in Yugoslavia and enchanted the world with her models.

- The history of fashion and fashion designers of Yugoslavia began with the signature of Mirjana Maric, and her creations were carried with admiration Yugoslavia's first lady Jovanka Broz, Gaddafi's "Amazons", the Danish princess, the Belgian princesses, members of the diplomatic corps, the wives of many statesmen - who came to Belgrade in the seventies and eighties - remind close family friends.

She was born on May 22.05.1938, 1948 in Kravlje near Nis, and since XNUMX she has lived with her family in Belgrade.

She graduated in 1960 from the Academy of Applied Arts, Department of Textiles, and then earned a Master's degree in Textiles and Contemporary Costume from the Manchester School of Art.

In 1968, she became a part-time artist and got a job at Jugoexport, convincing the company's management that she had to start production, and a few years later she started working in a haute couture workshop.

She has lived in Serbia-America for the last 35 years.

Mirjana was married to Dr. Mihajlo Maric, founder of the Social Accounting Office of the former Yugoslavia (SDK), who died in 1992.

- It was and remains a synonym for quality fashion in SFRY, and Mirjana Maric's designer pieces are made in limited series of 100 to 150 pieces.. She has organized more than 70 fashion shows around the world, while her brand "Tri M" and leather models have won numerous domestic and world awards.  She received special recognition for her creative work in 1975 and 1976, when Pierre Cardin invited her to France, organizing fashion shows with her models.
