Norway donated 76 military vehicles to Macedonia
Norway sent 76 military vehicles to Macedonia. A total of 40 trucks and 36 light infantry vehicles were loaded yesterday from the port of Orkanger and will be transported by ship to Thessaloniki, the Norwegian Embassy informs.
With the donation, announced in September last year, as informed by the Embassy of Norway, a light infantry battalion will be equipped.
- The donation symbolizes the importance of NATO solidarity and cooperation between member countries. The alliance's ability to respond to a crisis or conflict depends on the strength and solidarity of all member countries, not just one nation. On April 4 this year, the NATO alliance turns 75 years old. North Macedonia became a member of NATO in 2020, and Norway has been a member of NATO since the formation of the alliance in 1949. The two countries have a long history of bilateral cooperation, and with the entry of North Macedonia into the Alliance in 2020, the cooperation has become even stronger, according to a statement from the Norwegian Embassy.
The donation, as the embassy says, is also an indirect donation to Ukraine, because Macedonia previously donated a significant amount of equipment to Ukraine. With the Norwegian donation, Macedonia will be able to replenish part of the equipment they gave away, the embassy of Norway points out.
