The Spaniard won the "Fan Favorite" award given by the ATP for the first time this year, breaking the streak of the Swiss who won this award for the previous 19 years.

Rafael Nadal completes a full set of ATP awards after winning the Fan Favorite award for the first time this year, ending the dominance of arch-rival Roger Federer. The Swiss has won this annual award for the past 19 years, but is now out of contention as he has dropped out of the ATP rankings.

Nadal won this award for the first time, with the help of votes from tennis fans around the world in the competition of the top 25 singles players. In fact, since the award was introduced in 2000, only four players have won it as Gustavo Kuerten was the inaugural recipient, Marat Safin won it in 2001 and 2003 before Federer took over.

- I am happy to have received this award. It makes me feel great. I can't thank you all enough for your support not only for this award, but at the same time for all the support I get in every single city and event around the world – said the 22-time Grand Slam winner.

Nadal started the year on a 20-0 streak. His victory at the Australian Open made him the first man to win 21 Grand Slam tournaments, and he followed that up with his 22nd Grand Slam title by winning at Roland Garros in June.

Nadal, 36, finished his season with a 39-8 win-loss record and was ranked number two at the end of the year, behind Carlos Alcaraz.

With this award, Nadal has won all the annual awards given by the ATP.
