France will recall the Russian ambassador on Monday following the death of two French aid workers following a Russian attack in Ukraine, reports say Reuters.

Two French volunteer aid workers were killed and three others wounded in a Russian drone strike in southern Ukraine's Kherson region on February 1, in what Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne described as a "barbaric act".

"France will reiterate its condemnation of the Russian attacks," the diplomatic source said. "It will also condemn the rise of disinformation targeting France."

The Foreign Ministry has warned of further Russian disinformation ahead of President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Ukraine later this month.

Just two days after announcing new weapons deliveries on January 16, the Russian Defense Ministry said its forces had killed around 60 French mercenaries in an attack on a building in Kharkiv.

She did not provide evidence to support the claim and France rejected the allegations.
