Borel: A new order without Russia is being sought at the Prague summit
Today is the first summit of the European political community in Prague, and the leaders of 44 countries will send a clear signal that Russia is isolated and will try to create a new order without Moscow, said the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
- At the meeting, a new order without Russia will be sought - Borrell told reporters in Prague, before the start of the first EPZ summit, an initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron, reported Reuters.
Pert Fijala, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, which presides over the European Union, announced the first Summit of 44 heads of state in Europe as an opportunity for more informal discussions on issues in the areas of security and peace, the economic and energy crisis, and environmental protection goals.
"The Czech presidency of the EU is faced with huge challenges and crises that Europe is going through, which will be the topic of the first talks of the European political community, regardless of whether it is about peace and security, energy, the environment, the economy. The goal is not to reach any written conclusions, the goal is to discuss and create some kind of framework agreement regarding the further action of the European countries in those areas", said Fiala, who is the host of the Summit in which all the countries of the continent participate, except Russia and Belarus.
The Summit program leaves plenty of room for bilateral meetings after the two planned round tables – the first on the topic of peace and security and the second on economy, energy and climate issues.
The summit will be opened this afternoon by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, while President Milos Zeman will address the heads of state and government at the last plenary session during dinner at the Hradcany Presidential Palace.
