Roland Garros winner Rafael Nadal has embarked on his first cycle of treatment for an injured foot with "pulsed radiofrequency stimulation" in Barcelona, hoping to recover in time to advance to the next Wimbledon Grand Slam.

Nadal after winning the 14th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, revealed that after the second round match with Corentan Mute he literally could not walk and therefore agreed to have an "anesthetized leg" and before the final with Casper Rudd received an injection for pain in the injured foot.

Although he initially announced that he would miss Wimbledon because he does not want to play under injections, he said today that if the new medical treatment is successful, then it is possible that he will participate in the next Grand Slam tournament.

His opponent in the semifinals of Roland Garros, Alexander Zverev on Tuesday operated on the ankle of his right leg. He was injured during the duel with Nadal and after the detailed medical examinations, it was decided that the operation was necessary.

- Each of us has his own way in life. Next week I will be the second tennis player in the world for the first time, but now I had to have surgery. The detailed medical examinations revealed that all three ligaments of the right wrist were torn and in order for me to be able to recover properly and quickly, the surgery was the best choice - said Zverev.

It is not yet known how much he will miss from the tennis courts, but it is certain that Zverev will not play at Wimbledon.
