Why you should never cool your dogs with cold water during the summer heat
The high temperatures of summer are not ideal for long walks with your dog and if you thought that splashing with cold water could help him cool down, unfortunately it is not the best option.
Dogs don't sweat like humans, and their fur isn't exactly "designed" for summer. However, there are ways to help them cool down during high temperatures.
As it conveys "Mirror", a Labrador owner shared tips on how to care for pets during the summer. He points out that you should never spray your dog with cold water to cool him off.
Namely, it would cause the capillaries under their skin to close and the opposite effect would occur, i.e. the dog would retain heat even more.
Instead, cooling off in the pool is more efficient because dogs regulate their temperature with their paws and mouths. Dog owners are also advised to walk their dogs before 7am and after 22pm as temperatures are cooler then.
If your dog stays in the home, you can also use the air conditioner, but if he occasionally stays in the yard, it is better to avoid turning on the air conditioner while he is nearby because he should not feel a big difference in temperature.
Finally, it is important that pets always have enough fresh drinking water and a place in the shade during the summer, and owners are advised to brush them daily to remove excess hair.
