Beijing 2022 WOG: Brazilian to compete in Winter Olympics for fifth time
Brazilian Edson Bindilati will have his fifth and final appearance on Winter Olympics, after being named as part of Brazil's 11-member Beijing 2022 team.
He is a competitor in the bob four-seater discipline. Bindilati, 42, who started his sporting career as an athlete before moving on to bobsleigh, has announced he will retire after the Games, which are due to open on February 4 and last until February 20.
He played in the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City 2002, Turin 2006, Seoul 2014 and Pyongyang 2018. Besides him in the Brazilian team are Edson Martins, Eric Viana and Rafael Souza.
Four years ago, the Brazilians finished 23rd in Pyongyang, but Bindilati has high hopes for a performance in Beijing.
- When we started, we did not know what we were doing, but we had great support from other teams, from foreign coaches. Today we are much more mature. We hope to reach the final - said the Brazilian veteran.
Brazil will make its ninth appearance at the Beijing 2022 Games after making its debut at the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. Brazil still does not have a medal from the WOG.
