Nepal's tiger population has tripled in the last 12 years, the country's prime minister said. But the fact that the number of people who are victims of attacks by these dangerous animals is increasing is worrying. The Guardian".

From the lowest level since 2010, when there were only 121 tigers in the country, the Bengal tiger population has increased to 355, according to the latest report, shared by the Prime Minister of Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba. Today is World Tiger Day.

Nepal, together with neighboring India, has launched a campaign to increase the number of this species of wild cats in national parks.

In 2010, the then government promised to double the number of tigers in Nepal.

But recently, many residents of Nepal have complained about the frequent attacks of tigers on the population. Many who live near forests fear tiger attacks.

In the last three years, 104 tiger attacks on people have been reported in safe zones. During that time 62 died as a result of an attack by the wild cat. Residents are most often attacked while working in their fields or while gathering food from the forest.

"People are now encountering tigers everywhere, so the number of people dying in fighting with them is increasing. This means that the tiger population has reached its peak in Nepal. We are a small country," says Shiv Raj Bhatta, director of WWF Nepal.
