An earthquake measuring 4,4 on the Richter scale was felt near Halkidiki, according to the preliminary assessment of the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory in Athens, reports the Greek newspaper "Kathimerini".

The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 12:53 local time, is located 12 kilometers southwest of Ormilia, Halkidiki.

The focal depth is estimated at 15 kilometers.

According to eyewitnesses, the tremor was also felt in Thessaloniki.
