Zelensky announces talks with Trump for today

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in Helsinki today that he plans to speak with US President Donald Trump later in the day.

Zelensky said after talks with Finnish President Alexander Stubb that he expects to hear from Trump details of his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, Finnish public broadcaster Ile reported.

He noted that Ukraine is ready to send a delegation to the United States to discuss a ceasefire, stating that the war cannot end without Ukraine's participation in the negotiations.

The Ukrainian President thanked Finland for its military and humanitarian support to Ukraine.

Zelensky expressed hope that a ceasefire would eventually come about and reiterated that Ukraine had no intention of accepting "Russia's territorial claims."

The Ukrainian President stressed the importance of the international community's support for Ukraine.

He said Russia continues to bomb Ukraine, even though Putin has spoken with Trump about a possible ceasefire.

Zelensky noted that Ukraine's cooperation with Finnish arms manufacturers is possible.

In addition, the Ukrainian president reiterated Ukraine's aspiration to join NATO and the EU.
