Tonight, Zelensky arrives in Tirana, where he will participate in the two-day Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit

In the next two days, Tirana will host the two-day Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit.

The first one will take place tomorrow, on February 28, when a summit dedicated to Ukraine will be organized for the first time in the country, which will be attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who should arrive in the Albanian capital in the evening.

The second day of the summit, on February 29, will be dedicated to the plan for economic growth of the region, acceleration of reforms and investments that can advance the process of enlargement of the European Union with these countries. The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will also attend this meeting.

- The representative of Kosovo will be President Vjosa Osmani, who confirmed to Euronews her presence in Tirana during the two days of the summit. President Aleksander Vucic will attend from Serbia. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will also address the summit on Ukraine via video message, the television added.

According to the same source, the center of the events will be the Congress Palace, a place where all leaders will first be welcomed by Prime Minister Edi Rama, then the sessions that will be closed to the public will come, and at the end of the day it is expected that there will be a conference for the media.

Due to the summit and the visit of Zelenski, the security measures in Tirana have been raised to the highest level. The director of the Department of Public Order and Security, Rebani Jaupi, informed today that the measures will start to be implemented from today, for which more than 1600 police forces from all structures will be engaged, then the rapid deployment unit, the special unit "RENEA", the national guard and other structures.

According to him, members of the anti-terrorism department, members of the secret service, SISH and RENEA are already at the international airport in Tirana to check the security of the airport.
