Zelensky: With the invasion of Kursk, the war is moving to the territory of the aggressor
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in connection with the offensive of the armed forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of Russia, said that now the war is moving to the "territory of the aggressor".
"Today, Commander-in-Chief Sirski has already reported several times about the front and our actions and pushing the war into the territory of the aggressors, and every unit of our defense forces proves that they really know how to restore justice and guarantee exactly what pressure is needed," he said. He indicated that Ukrainian forces are paying attention to every part of the front, and especially to the areas most affected by the fighting, including Sumy and Kharkiv regions, as well as Pokrovsky, Toretsk and Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region.
The Ukrainian agency reports that Moscow is sending private security forces to defend Kursk and that the incursion of Ukrainian forces into the area has made Russian citizens question whether President Vladimir Putin can guarantee their safety.
The New York Times previously reported that Russian forces may have repelled the Ukrainian offensive in Kursk, but fighting continues.
Earlier today, the Russian regional emergency ministry announced that more than 76.000 people had been evacuated from the Kursk region on the border with Ukraine.
On Tuesday, Ukrainian forces tried to seize part of the territory of the Sujan district in the Kursk region, and the Russian military claimed it had succeeded in halting their advance.
