He explained what he called the "nonsense measures proposed by the opposition" regarding the VAT on electricity, since it was they who raised the price of electricity during their seven-year rule, and stated that it is "total absurd for SDS to now demand a reduction."
"First of all, we demanded that the VAT on electricity be reduced when we were in opposition, and additionally, during the period when SDS was in power, they increased electricity by 100%. Since VMRO-DPMNE has been in power in August and January, the total increase is 1,48, so this 30% increase is just talking off the top of my head. I believe that the regulator is raising the price, not the opposition or the government. At this point, I believe that it is still too early for such a thing. Additionally, every measure that is taken, which should directly affect citizens, should be taken with all stakeholders in the process of setting prices, first of all, citizens must be included," said Zdravkovski.
Regarding the activities that the Government has in mind, the MP indicated that a price freeze will not be accepted and that the Ministry of Economy is working to ensure that all stakeholders are included and that an appropriate acceptable measure is adopted.
"We do not accept a price freeze because after that there is a boom, additional pressure from the unions. Let's say that what the opposition is demanding by increasing the minimum wage will create a very large expense for businessmen and food producers to further increase prices. I will repeat again that the Ministry of Economy within the Government has communication and is in constant dialogue with all affected parties. We must adopt a measure that will be acceptable to all," said Zdravkovski.
