The ten-day international military exercise "ORION-24", which took place in several locations in the wider part of the Greek region of Attica in the vicinity of Athens, and in which among the participating countries was North Macedonia with the members of the "Wolves" special forces battalion, has successfully ended. today, the MIA correspondent from Athens reported.

The General Staff of the National Defense of Greece announced this morning that in the exercise that began on September 2, a series of scenarios were performed that are the subject of special forces - special operations forces, and at the same time they published photos of the activities of the special forces in the past ten days.

In the announcement, they also referred to yesterday's Distinguished Visitors Day (DV DAY) which was held in the suburbs of Athens, which was attended by the MIA, and the exercise was followed by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Greece Yannis Kefaloyannis, the head of The General Staff of the Greek Army Dimitris Hupis, the ambassadors in Greece of the countries participating in the exercise, including the ambassador of our country Lidija Boškovska.

Special forces from North Macedonia, USA, France, Romania, Italy, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Austria, Poland, Egypt host Greece and Croatia participate in the international exercise "ORION 24" of the special forces - special operations forces in the role of observer.

As MIA reported yesterday, at the Day for high-ranking guests and media representatives, the specialists demonstrated their operational capabilities on land, in water and in the air, in several specific and complex scenarios.

Among the striking scenarios were an underwater penetration to secure a small island and an air evacuation of six special team members using SPIES, the special rope-assisted helicopter extraction system from an area where a land landing is not feasible.

In addition, special forces freed ships and boats, evacuated a ship by entering a CH-47D helicopter, transmitted information using a drone, etc., and finished with paratroopers, who carried the flags of the participating countries.
According to the information of the MIA correspondent from Athens, 24 special forces participated in the "ORION 1.120" exercise, of which about 1.000 were from Greece.

In the period from September 2, the specialists took part in day and night exercises in the wider part of the Attica area, and the goal is to exchange experiences, improve operational capabilities and capacities, but also promote the cooperation and interoperability of the participants, encouraging regional stability.

For the Macedonian "Wolves" this was the second participation in the specific military exercise, considering that in May 2023 they were part of the "ORION-23" exercise.

The specific military exercise was first held in Greece in 2018, then only at the national level, and from 2021 it already has an international character with the participation of allied and friendly countries.

"ORION-23" was held from April 24 to May 5, 2023, then it was the first participation of ORION for our country, and apart from North Macedonia and the host Greece, members of the special forces of Cyprus, Austria, Bulgaria, France, USA, Montenegro and Serbia.
