All the big hotels on the Ohrid-Struz coast put a key on the door. They will remain closed at least until the end of March, announced MRTV.

The main reason, as the public service writes, is the energy crisis. The hotel association HOTAM says it is impossible to cover the high electricity bills, which reach thousands of euros per month.

"Something had to be done considering the expensive energy, all the price increases we had, and always the months of January, February and March are our lowest season, where we have the highest costs and the least income. And it was logical to close those months", says Krste Blazeski, president of HOTAM.

Employees in the hotel sector are at home. Some use vacations and will receive full salary, others will remain at 70% salary until the start of the season.
