The European Championship begins in Germany: Who will be the champion of the Old Continent?

Tonight, with the match at 21:00, the biggest football spectacle on the Old Continent begins, and 24 national teams will fight for the prestigious trophy.

The European Championship begins with the match between hosts Germany and Scotland. Bayern Munich's home Allianz Arena will host the opening game of the 17th European Championship which will be played from June 14 to July 14 when the grand final is scheduled.

24 national teams will fight for the prestigious trophy, and only Georgia is a rookie. Serbia is ruled as the successor of Yugoslavia, and the Czech Republic and Slovakia as the successors of Czechoslovakia.

The title is defended by Italy, who celebrated three years ago in the final against England after a better execution of penalties. The matches are played in 10 cities, and each stadium has a special story. From Berlin, via Munich, Dortmund, Stuttgart, Gelsenkirchen, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Dusseldorf to Cologne and Leipzig.

The first part of the competition consists of matches of six groups with four teams each, the two best teams advance to the knockout stage (round of 16).

Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland.

Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania.

Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England.

Group D: Poland, Netherlands, Austria, France.

Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine.

Group F: Turkey, Georgia, Portugal, Czech Republic.

The most successful selections on the Old Continent are Germany and Spain, which won three titles each, and Germany played in the final three times (1976, 1992 and 2008).
