Seized 780 kilograms of tobacco worth over 50 thousand euros

In a major operation in Bitola and Resen, the customs administration seized 780 kilograms of cut tobacco with a total value of 3,4 million denars.

As informed by the Customs, in the action searches were carried out at homes and utility rooms, and controls were also carried out at the city markets.

- Namely, on 13.12.2024, following the issuance of an order for the search of a home and other auxiliary premises from the basic court in Resen, inspectors from the Department for Control and Investigations conducted a search of auxiliary premises that were used as a shop by the person S. T. from Resen. During the search, around 259 kilograms of cut tobacco were found. Controls were also carried out at the city market, during which the person RN. 100 kilograms of cut tobacco were taken from Resen. On the same day, following the issuance of an Order for the search of a home and other auxiliary premises by the basic court in Bitola, a search of auxiliary premises that were used as garages was carried out by the person F. K. where about 283 kilograms of cut tobacco were found. Additionally, during controls at the city market in Bitola, another 88 kilograms of cut tobacco were taken from the same person, as well as an additional 49 kilograms of cut tobacco from the person T.N, according to a statement from the Customs Administration.

Three perpetrators will be held criminally responsible, and one person will be charged with a misdemeanor.
