Zaev from Sarajevo Business Forum: In times of crisis, there should be dialogue and cooperation
We have to work together to succeed. The key is in partnerships, in alliances. "In the face of the risks of global unrest, we must come together and create platforms, collaborations and partnerships that radiate regional peace, stability, predictability," he said. former Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on Sarajevo Business Forum.
He said that it is time to "pack" the region as an investment potential and stressed that in order to bring the big players we need to play a bigger game.
- The Western Balkans has huge potentials for creating energy from renewable energy sources, said Zaev.
He stressed that today, when it comes to post-Covid reconstruction, we can not but talk about the economic consequences of the Russian aggression on Ukraine, because when we were on the verge of recovery from Covid-19 Ukraine happened and now these two crises must see each other together.
- The world, Europe, and thus the region, all of us, no longer face only the reduced productive power of companies or reduced sales due to the reduced purchasing power of citizens, we do not face only the challenge of preserving jobs or transforms or digitizes the activity of a certain business. "Today the challenges are much bigger - food shortages, global reorganization of energy supply, price shocks," Zaev said in a speech emphasizing regional co-operation.
Zaev sees the recovery from the crisis as a process of direct support of the citizens by the states by maintaining the purchasing power of the families, which, as he said, will amortize the price shocks.
"Therefore, I appeal to the governments, do not save the citizens, on the contrary, invest in them - in the purchasing power and in the development of human capital," said Zaev.
He added that the minimum wage, social assistance and pensions must maintain steady growth, and all parties in the states must engage in dialogue in order to find solutions.
