The joint commission agreed on five changes in the textbooks in Macedonia and Bulgaria
The Macedonian team in the bilateral commission for historical and educational issues with Bulgaria held a briefing where the adopted decisions of the Commission on the joint honoring of certain historical figures as well as recommendations for improving history textbooks were presented.
- These are recommendations that refer to both Macedonian and Bulgarian textbooks, and we are talking about five recommendations that each of the parties should implement, and they refer to the ancient period. In the future, textbook authors should take these recommendations into account. The recommendations address structural inconsistencies and errors in dates and locations, said Draghi Gjorgiev, co-chairman of the Commission.
The Government may, but is not obliged to, accept these recommendations from the Joint Commission.
Also, the Commission decided that Tsar Samuel, Saint Cyril and Methodius, Saint Clement and Saint Naum, on certain jubilees and important dates, will be honored together with delegations from both countries, adds Gjorgiev.
This afternoon's recommendations are published on the website of the Macedonian MFA.
