From tomorrow to Thursday, outdoor physical activity is prohibited, the Government decided at today's online session, which was convened exclusively due to the need to adopt measures to protect against high temperatures, which reach the orange level of danger.

- Due to the hot weather, the government made recommendations for exemption from work for several categories of citizens and a ban on outdoor physical activity. Pregnant women and people over the age of 60 are released from work duties in the period from July 12 to 18. In the same period, employers should reorganize the work activities of construction workers and workers who work outdoors, which will avoid performing construction and other physical activities outdoors in the period from 11 a.m. to 17 p.m. A decision was made that kindergartens should not practice physical activity and not take children outdoors from 11 am to 17 pm - the Government announced.

Also, the Government recommends to the units of the local self-government, the Red Cross and the centers for social affairs in the regions affected by the heat wave to provide assistance to the lonely, the elderly, the infirm and the homeless.

- Given that certain risky production and technological processes may pose an additional risk to the health of exposed workers, employers are reminded of the obligation to comply with legal regulations in this area. The government of the Republic of North Macedonia constantly monitors the situation related to the high weather temperatures and for this purpose promptly takes appropriate measures to protect the population - the executive authority announced.

HMRC weather forecast for the coming days

HMRC today declared an orange level of danger of high temperatures until the end of next week.

- The period of sunny and very hot weather continues, with daily temperatures that will be above 30 degrees Celsius everywhere, and in places will exceed 40 degrees, which is why the orange level will be activated for the danger of high temperatures by the end of the next working week. On Sunday in the afternoon in the western parts, there will be a local occurrence of torrential rain and thunder - announced yesterday HMRC.

According to The action plan to prevent the consequences of heat waves on the health of the population, adopted by the Ministry of Health in 2011, at the orange level of danger, specific plans for emergency conditions should be followed in each health facility, in public institutions and in retirement homes and educational institutions establishments. Furthermore, the measures for extreme danger provide for the protection of persons who are exposed to heat in the workplace, as well as the protection of the most vulnerable categories. Recommendations should be given to the population to use public centers with air-conditioned rooms, and Red Cross activists should distribute water to citizens who are found outside during the heat. It is also planned that the Government will consider additional measures for working hours and for the release of the work obligations of the most vulnerable groups of the population.

Macedonians are the most resistant to heat - for the Serbs and Kosovars, a red alarm at 38 degrees, for us even at 44 degrees!
