Macron spoke for the first time after the fall of the French government
French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed in an address to the nation that he will remain in office until the end of his term in May 2027, a day after a vote of no confidence in the government of Michel Barnier, who resigned today, reported Reuters.
"The mandate you have given me lasts five years and I will use it until the very end," Macron said in a ten-minute televised address.
He added that he will appoint a new prime minister in the coming days.
Among other things, he said that it is necessary for the new budget to be adopted at the beginning of next year, as well as for the draft law to be prepared by the new government.
He emphasized that all public services and institutions will work without interruption.
