Vulin: Contrary to the demands of the EU, BRICS does not ask for anything, it offers us to be part of an economy halfway around the world
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that although Serbia has been trying to become part of the European Union for decades, he is not sure that the EU wants Serbia. He also assessed that BRICS has become more important than it was and that this fact cannot be ignored, the Government of Serbia announced today.
BRICS is showing strength and we are very interested in learning, discovering what BRICS has to offer us. If you want to become part of the EU, you must know that it has certain political consequences, Vulin said at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Ras al-Hema, where he is participating as part of an official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
As an example, Vulin cited the EU's demands for Serbia to recognize Kosovo and impose sanctions on Russia.
For example, the EU asked Serbia to recognize the independence of Kosovo, part of the territory of Serbia, we did not do that, they asked us to impose sanctions on Russia, we are not part of them and we do not want to do that, they asked us to stop subsidizing our farmers, that's not easy for us to do, Vulin said.
On the other hand, according to Vulin, BRICS does not ask for anything, but offers them to be part of the growing economy half the world away.
According to him, the BRICS Summit in Kazan gave hope that it is possible, if you are a representative of a country with only seven million inhabitants, to be a partner of someone with a billion inhabitants.
It is not only wrong, but also foolish to believe that you can isolate Russia. It is very foolish to believe that you can intimidate China and think that it will do whatever you want. It is foolish to think that you can turn the Emirates into a dependent state. Stupidity is very dangerous, said Vulin.
Vulin also disagrees with the division of the world into "Global West" and "Global South".
