Vucic: A Macedonian citizen is among the dead in Novi Sad

On the occasion of the tragedy in Novi Sad, in which according to the information so far 14 people died, when a part of the canopy of the platforms of the Railway Station collapsed, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, spoke.

"On behalf of all the citizens of our country, I express my condolences to the families and relatives of those who died in the accident in Novi Sad," Vucic said, revealing that one of the dead was from Macedonia.

- A great tragedy befell us. At the main railway station in Novi Sad, the canopy collapsed on a large number of people. We still haven't managed to find out the identity of five people - eight are citizens of Serbia, one is from Macedonia. On behalf of all citizens, I want to express my condolences to the families and relatives - said Vucic.

At the train station in Novi Sad at 11:50 a.m., the concrete canopy of the station building collapsed, while a large number of people were standing under it. Footage from security cameras captured the terrifying moment of the accident:

Most of the dead are young people, and the media reported that a six-year-old child was among the victims. The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad informs the public that during the investigation so far, 14 bodies of the deceased have been recovered from the ruins, of which two women have been identified as A.R. (20.) and A.Q.S. (35) years and five male persons: H.S. (27), M.M. (21), Sh.G. (77), R.V. (69) and S.V. (45) years old.
