On Tuesday, May 30, the distribution of another 100.000 tourist vouchers of 5.000 dinars each for a vacation in Serbia will begin. The State Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Uros Kandic, says that the unemployed, pensioners, people older than 65 who have no income, students, people who use other people's care and assistance and employees whose salaries are lower than 70.000 dinars are entitled to vouchers.

The first annual quota of 100.000 vouchers went up in less than two days

. "From Tuesday morning, citizens will be able to register at all post office counters, they know the procedure very well, this has been going on for years. Everything remained the same as in the previous distribution, which was at the beginning of January," Kandic points out.

He says that they expect the vouchers to go in a few days this year as well. Years ago, a third of all vouchers were realized in Sokobanja. Kandic says that from New Year's to yesterday, the number of overnight stays in Serbia has increased by 17 percent.

"When it comes to foreign guests alone, it is also 30 percent compared to the previous year. It's a great result," Kandic points out.

He says that tourists come mainly from the region - from Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Turkey... He emphasizes that lately there are more and more tourists from Russia and the European Union, as well as that Chinese tourists have started to returns since the moment the covid measures were eased in China.

Domestic tourists usually choose Sokobanja, Zlatibor and Vrnjačka banja, while foreign tourists prefer cities in summer and Kopaonik in winter, says Kandic.

"This year there is a big jump in tourists in Sijarinska Banja. "Traditionally there are Gornja Trepca, Lukovska Banja and Kuršumlijska Banja," says Kandić.
