Vuќiќ: Belgrade is ready for dialogue unlike Pristina

At this point there is no dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, said last night the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuќi. in Belgrade after the meeting with the European Union Special Representative for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak. Vuќi и and Lajчаak were supposed to hold a joint press conference, but as Vuќi рече said, then only he agreed to address the media.

"I informed (Lajcak) what I will talk about and that I will tell the truth about everything that is happening and what are the intentions of the Western powers. "His word was important and I did not want to put him in an awkward situation," Vucic told a news conference.

The Serbian president reacted to the June 29th decision of the Government of Kosovo on the possibility of re-registering cars with license plates issued by the Serbian authorities of the RKS (Republic of Kosovo). He said that "we have a complete change in the situation in the Western Balkans and Serbia, especially in Kosovo."

Vucic said Kosovo and the West "want to persuade Serbs to register according to the RKS plates".

"If they do not convince them, then they will steal their vehicles," Vucic said.

A statement from the Kosovo government on June 29 explained that the re-registration of these vehicles would begin on August 1 and last until September 31.

The instruction for crossing the border crossings with personal documents issued by the Serbian authorities was also adopted.

It is explained that upon entering Kosovo, everyone with personal documents issued by Serbia will receive a certificate that replaces the documents.

Vucic said the decisions "prepare for the expulsion of Serbs from Kosovo" and that Serbia's response to those decisions would be sober.

"We will not take military action, but we demand that people not be deprived of their property and expelled," he said.

Vuќi и also said that Serbia is ready for dialogue, but that, as he claims, the Kosovo side is not.

"The other side does not want a compromise solution, but only us to agree with what they have already decided," Vucic said, adding that Kosovo has Western support for its actions.

Prior to his visit to Belgrade, Lajcak had been in Kosovo since June 27, where he said preparations were still under way for a meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Kurti and Vucic have met only twice so far, but there has been no concrete progress in the dialogue.

In September last year, Kosovo introduced reciprocal measures against Serbia in terms of license plates, leading to an escalation of the situation in northern Kosovo, where local Serbs have been holding crossings blocked for two weeks.

Then, both sides reached a temporary solution, ie to stick the state symbols on white stickers. Given that a final solution has not yet been reached, the sticker regime remained in place.

Kosovo and Serbia have been in dialogue to normalize relations since 2011, with about 30 agreements reached so far, but most have not been implemented on the ground.
