The employees of the public prosecutor's offices are on strike for higher salaries and the return of salary supplements

The employees of the public prosecutor's offices went on strike from today and demanded a salary increase of 78 percent and the return of salary supplements in the amount of 35 percent. As the general secretary of the UPOZ Union, Bojan Tripunoski, announced in front of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office - Skopje, the strike will take place in front of the buildings of all 28 public prosecutor's offices in the territory of the country, their halls or meeting rooms and will last until the fulfillment of the requirements. According to the legal regulations, the employees of the public prosecutor's offices will only work on cases in which there is detention, search or urgent appeals.
- We will not allow any pressure on employees to perform work tasks, except for those that are urgent and urgent. The Minister of Justice was informed about the start of the strike, but he did not find time to receive us and listen to our demands. An amendment has been sent to all political parties in the Parliament, with which it is requested that in the rebalancing of the budget funds be provided for higher salaries for the employees of the prosecutor's offices. We are ready to withstand all pressures, said the General Secretary of the Union of UPOZ, Bojan Tripunoski from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office - Skopje.
The revolt among the employees of the public prosecutor's offices occurred after the Constitutional Court made a decision to increase the salary of the officials, while cutting the salary supplements for the employees of the public prosecutor's offices which amounted to 35 percent, for the employees of the organized crime department, and the supplements of 5 percent for all the rest. The average salary of employees in public prosecutor's offices is 22.000 denars.
Izabela Ilieva from the trade union organization at the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Macedonia said that the salary increase according to the general collective agreement is not enough and appealed to the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Justice to hold a meeting as soon as possible, because as she said the strike will become radicalized .
- Problems have been accumulating for years, but now we are all as one. The strike began everywhere at 7:30 am. I appeal to the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Justice to call us as soon as possible and not to waste time, that is, to sit down and start negotiating, because we really have a lot of things to solve. If the Law on Judicial Service is finished, then the Law on Public Prosecutor's Service has not even begun, we are not called to discuss that law and state our specifics. They usually "copy-paste" the Law on Administrative Service, said Ilieva from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office - Skopje.
