A vehicle carrying migrants overturned on a highway near Sofia, one dead
A vehicle carrying migrants from Afghanistan overturned on a highway near Sofia, killing one of the migrants. The incident happened around midnight local time, Bulgarian media reported.
After receiving a signal, the police chased after the vehicle with foreign license plates in which the migrants were in order to stop it. In an attempt to avoid a police check, the driver of the vehicle carrying the migrants lost control and hit a concrete fence.
According to Bulgarian media, the driver is a Serbian citizen and has been detained. Sixteen migrants sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals.
