One train was killed and 85 others were injured in a train crash near Barcelona
One person was killed and 85 were injured in a collision between a freight and a passenger train in Catalonia today, Spanish authorities and the railway company said.
Ambulance services say they are helping to evacuate about 100 people from the passenger train.
The accident happened around 18 pm, about 15 km from Barcelona, the capital of the northeastern region, said the railway company FGC.
A freight train carrying potassium derailed as it entered Sant Boi station in northeastern Spain.
He then hit the front of the passenger train, which was leaving the station, and the driver was killed in the collision, the company FGC said.
