In Republika Srpska, the import of grapes from Northern Macedonia is banned due to pesticides

The Phytosanitary Inspection of Republika Srpska in BiH banned the import of a shipment of fresh grapes originating from Northern Macedonia, in the amount of 20.730 kilograms, due to the increased content of pesticides, said the MIA correspondent from Belgrade.

- During the regular inspection of a consignment of food of plant origin upon import, the competent inspector took samples for laboratory analysis in order to examine the remains of pesticides, said the Inspectorate of R. Srpska, transmits RTRS.

Based on the report for laboratory analysis issued by the "Water Institute" in Bijeljina, which examined the presence of 180 active substances, in the analyzed sample was found increased presence of pesticides "fosmet" above the values ​​prescribed by the Decree on maximum level of residues pesticides in and on food and feed of animal and plant origin.

Acting on the results of the analysis, the inspector issued a decision prohibiting the import and ordered the return of the disputed consignment to the consignor or destruction under the supervision of a competent inspector.

The Inspectorate reminded that this month, due to the increased presence of pesticides, the import of 6.842 kilograms of table grapes from Albania and 660 kilograms of fresh cucumbers from Northern Macedonia was banned, while the import of 24 tons of potatoes from Poland was banned due to the presence of economically harmful organisms.
