The queues in front of the ambulance throughout Serbia are not decreasing, and a five-digit number of patients has been registered for days. At the moment, the omicron strain is dominant, which is spreading rapidly, but the recovery is faster, experts point out. The peak of the wave is expected in mid-February.
The pressure from the covid ambulance is pouring towards the hospitals, so the number of hospitalized has increased.
Pediatricians in covidate clinics and children's hospitals note that the number of infected children is growing.
Dr. Snezana Rasovac, pulmonologist from the Children's Clinic in Tirshova in Belgrade, he told RTS that the omicron spreads rapidly but gives a moderately mild picture, rarely severe in children, and passes in five to seven days.
She explained that preschool children and infants have fever, chills and symptoms of the upper respiratory system, nose, throat, trachitis, headaches, conjunctivitis, and bronchitis, bronchiolitis, pneumonia in the lower respiratory tract.
In younger children, when it "descends" and when it affects the lower respiratory tract, coughing and shortness of breath occur, said Rsovac.
