Marina was found in a forest by a river, butchered by her mother and Zorica
Serbian Marina Cvetkovic, suspected of butchering her mother Zorica in their family home, was caught near a playground in a forest not far from a factory in the Nikola Tesla neighborhood. For now, it is not known whether any of the people living in this area reported or the police noticed her, considering that the intensive search for her lasts 24 hours.
“Many police vehicles were seen passing through our street last night. They arrived in stages, two or three at a time. There were patrol cars and unmarked, there were probably forensics as well. She hid by the playground in the woods, probably hoping no one would see her because of the trees. The search and the arrest ended at around nine tonight," Marina's fellow citizens told Telegraf.rs.
Just to remind you, the crime happened on Sunday in the evening on Sava Kostica street where Marina lived with her father Najdan and mother Zorica. There were no witnesses to the crime because Najdan was keeping goats in the nearby Banjsko Polje at the time when his wife Zorica was killed by their daughter.
Marina, who is suspected of having slaughtered her mother, was on the run for almost 24 hours. She was found last night in the Nikola Tesla neighborhood, from where she was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, where her clothes and shoes were taken for the analysis of biological traces created during the crime. From there, she was transferred to the Psychiatric Hospital in Gornja Toponica, where, by order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office, she will undergo an expert examination.
If it is determined that she was of sound mind at the time of the crime, she faces a prison sentence of ten years to life imprisonment, which is prescribed for aggravated murder, while if it is determined that she committed the murder due to mental illness, a procedure for determining the measure will be carried out of security, mandatory detention and treatment in a psychiatric institution.
