The death toll from the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States today rose to one million, less than two and a half years after the pandemic began.
The death toll was based on deaths from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The actual number of direct or indirect deaths from covid-19 is estimated to be much higher due to health system disorders. Three months ago, there were a total of 900 deaths from covid-000 in the United States.
Currently, the average daily mortality from coronavirus in the United States is about 300, while at the peak in January 2021, it was about 3400 deaths per day.
Three-quarters of those who died were 65 or older, and more men than women. Most people died in urban areas.
