From January to July of this year, licenses were issued for the production of electricity from renewable sources with a total installed capacity of 179,72 megawatts, according to the data of the Regulatory Commission for Energy, Water Services and Municipal Waste Management Services (RKE).

According to the president of RKE Marko Bislimoski, lower electricity bills are the key reason why the interest in investments in renewable energy does not stop.

- Lower electricity costs are undoubtedly the direct benefit that companies have, if we analyze on a micro level. But if you look at the big picture, precisely because of this open investment cycle of the private initiative in renewable sources, better known to the public as Eldorado, the state has seen a historic decrease in net electricity imports from the traditional 30 percent to 2,75 percent in 2023. The data shows that in two years and seven months in the country, facilities that produce electricity from the sun with a total installed capacity of about 731 megawatts were built and connected to the grid, while only one block of REK Bitola has an installed capacity of 233 megawatts - said Bislimoski.

In 2023, RKE issued licenses for the production of electricity from renewable sources with a total installed capacity of almost 399 megawatts, while in 2022, 152,2 megawatts were issued.
