This opportunity for "employment" suits mostly pensioners with low incomes, says Stanka Trajkova, president of the Union of Associations of Pensioners, and reveals that they are already negotiating with some old people's homes for a similar work engagement.

More and more domestic companies are trying to interest able-bodied retirees to re-engage. Some of the large trade chains, some transporters, security agencies, have started offering us positions that suit our age, as well as our health and psychophysical condition, confirms for Free Press Stanka Trajkova, president of the Union of pensioners' associations. Trajkova says that the reality is like this, the Macedonian population is aging, and young people are moving out, which, on the other hand, is increasingly emptying the labor pool.

– We do not detect hot water, this principle is increasingly applied in the West. Our goal is to improve the material status of pension beneficiaries in cooperation with the companies that show interest. In that context, the working meeting of the representatives with the "Vero" trade chain took place, and the conditions are determined by the contracting parties, independently of the Union of Associations of Pensioners of Macedonia. The employment will take place through a temporary employment agency, as hired under a work contract. The work engagement of the pensioner will mean additional income in addition to the payment of the regular pension, as a realized right, and this is also published on our website - explains Trajkova.

For example, for those pensioners who are able to work and in good health, the company "Vero" enables and hires pensioners, so the pensioner has 20 days of vacation under that contract, and 40 working hours per week, plus one day off per week.
She agrees that pensioners cannot be engaged in some more difficult jobs, which require higher productivity or good physical condition...

- We strive to provide dignified employment to those who feel capable, and that means being equal to other employees. For example, a pensioner can arrange goods, be at the reception desk, so why not work at the cash register, of course if he agrees with the employing company. This opportunity for "employment" suits mostly pensioners with low incomes - adds Trajkova and reveals to our newspaper that they are already negotiating with some nursing homes for work engagement of pensioners.

- This practice of "employing" pensioners also exists in other countries and it is increasingly accepted as a plus program, to improve their financial situation. And in our country, since the pensions are also small, the additional engagement will mean an improvement not only of one's own budget, but also of the family budget, because it is well known that in some households, pensioners are the only breadwinners - explains Trajkova.

Are 42.000 people employed in Serbia again?

It is difficult to say how many pensioners are working, but according to the data of the Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance and based on the number of requests to redetermine the amount of the pension based on the following years of service, it is estimated that of the total number of pensioners, 2,5, 42.000 percent or about XNUMX are hired on the basis of insurance, which is treated as an employment relationship. However, it is safe to say that more retirees go to work than that number.

The president of the "Nezavisnost" pensioners' union, Milos Grabundzija, says that many pensioners are forced to work, primarily because of low incomes, writes Kamatica. According to him, it is mostly about jobs in agriculture, they are employed as night watchmen, manual workers... but there are also retirees who were in high positions and remain there even after they retire. He points out that it is difficult to determine how many pensioners are working because most of them are not registered.

Pensioners from Zagreb are the most active on the labor market

Almost 30.000 Croatian pensioners worked part-time last May, which is 21 percent more than the same month in 2022. These data reveal that up to half of the working time in Croatia, more pensioners work than insured workers in three Croatian counties – Lika-Senjska, Virovitica-Podravska and Požeško-Slavonska, B92 reported.

From year to year, the number of pensioners who increase the domestic budget by working up to half the working time is increasing, because the Government of Croatia is constantly expanding the circle of those who can work without losing their pension. In addition to old-age pension beneficiaries, in 2019 those who took an early old-age pension also received this right, from 2021 citizens receiving a family pension have this right, and from the beginning of 2022 soldiers and policemen, as veterans, have this right. writes the Zagreb portal H1.

According to the same data, those who have been in active employment for the longest period of time work in retirement. Most pensioners work in Zagreb, 7.788 of them, which is almost 29 percent of all pensioners who work up to half the working time, while in the counties bordering the sea, almost 10.500 pensioners work, which is almost 40 percent of all pensioners who work.

The oldest Bosnian working pensioner is 95 years old!

In Republika Srpska, the number of employed pensioners is growing year by year, so now, according to the records, there are more than 8 thousand of them, reports Report.Ba. Although he spent his working life as a cultural worker and in several management positions, for Milan Radić from Bjelina, retirement did not mean the end of work. He replaced his work in culture with work as a driver and worker in production.

My wife also works occasionally, she does not have a permanent job, later I had children, they are students..." says Radić.

According to the data of the RS Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, the number of pensioners who continue to work after exercising their right to pension is growing year by year. Last year, the PIO RS fund registered 8.053 insured persons/beneficiaries who are employed in construction, transport, food industry, etc. They cite low pensions as the main reason. That the citizens of RS work hard and are active even in the third year of their life is also confirmed by the fact that the oldest working pensioner in RS is 95 years old, writes bhrt.ba.
