There may be zone parking in Karposh, but multi-storey garages are also planned

The current mayor of Karpos, Stevco Jakimovski, believes that zone parking is the fastest solution to free up parking space, but does not specify whether he will introduce it.

It has been almost two years since a survey was conducted in the settlements of Karposh 1 and Karposh 2 on whether the residents want zone parking to be introduced or not, due to the lack of parking spaces, a problem they have been facing for years. Although the majority of citizens said yes, so far no step forward has been made to introduce regulated parking in this area.

The previous mayor of the Municipality of Karpos, Stefan Bogoev, claimed that PE "City Parking" is preparing a project that should cover the specifics of space because in Karpos 1 the streets are narrower, serviceable, and with zone parking which means drawing places and clearing sidewalks from vehicles, parking space would be significantly reduced.

The residents of this neighborhood have the biggest problem with parking, which means driving through the streets for half an hour to find an empty place to leave the car. Additionally, the situation worsens because this settlement is divided by only one street from the municipality of Centar, Rooseveltova, where parking is possible only for the residents or there is a zone on the larger streets. So, instead of paying for parking, the guests of Centar leave the cars in Karposh 1, usurping the already few parking spaces in this area.

The Investment Program of PE "City Parking" for 2021 stated that in Karpos 1 zone parking should be introduced on the stretch between the streets Gigo Mihajlovski, Ivan Agovski, Daskal Kamce, Ruger Boskovic and Nikola Tesla, which, according to the analysis, would be provided 432 parking spaces. In Karposh 2, it was planned to enable the move from Osmi Septemvri Boulevard, Branislav Nusic and Veselin Maslesha Streets, which would put into use another 352 parking spaces. Parking in the Municipality of Karpos would be in Zone D, which means that all those who are not residents of these neighborhoods would pay 30 denars per hour.

The current mayor of Karpos, Stevco Jakimovski, believes that zone parking is the fastest solution to free up parking space, but does not specify whether he will introduce it.

- I am aware that a survey has been conducted in the urban communities bordering the municipality of Centar and that the majority of citizens have voted for zone parking. Realistically, this is the fastest possible solution to free the space from vehicles owned by citizens of the Municipality of Centar, employees of PUIG and other companies in the area. This would solve the problem with damaged vehicles, as well as those vehicles that are sold and rented. But, at the same time, we are preparing projects for multi-storey garages - says Jakimovski.

In Karposh 1 and Karposh 2, some of the residents have garages, but rarely do they use them, they are mostly used for storing "stardii" or as a substitute for basements, but they do not park inside. However, the Municipality can not solve this problem.

- As for the problem with the citizens who do not park their vehicles in the garages, unfortunately there is no way that the Municipality can make them use them for the right purpose - claims the mayor.

Karposh residents who live near Mlechen and Porta Vlae also have a problem with parking, where prefabricated garages were announced a long time ago, but they have not been built yet.

Regarding the parking problem in Porta Vlae, yes, we plan to solve it with prefabricated garages. The adoption of the Budget for 2022 is in progress, with which we plan to solve this problem. I think that is the only possible solution for Vlae - says Jakimovski.

The problem with parking in Karposh continues. It remains to be seen whether he will be at least mitigated in the term of the current mayor.
