Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic told a cabinet meeting today that the total number of cases in the last seven days was 17.000, which is 28 percent less than in the previous seven days.

- The number of confirmed cases has been declining for two weeks, and the number of newly hospitalized is declining. It is the same with the number of respiratory patients, that number is stabilizing. If this continues, we expect the number of deaths per day to decrease - said the Prime Minister.

He stressed that these data are not a reason to relax because the virus is still present.

- Christmas is in two days, this was a difficult year, but it is very important now that we do not relax so that the holidays are not critical for those who are they in the most fragile health. That is why it is very important to reduce socializing as much as possible in this period - said Plenkovic.

He announced that about 9000 doses of vaccine against rope-19 would arrive in Croatia in a few days.

- Those who need it most will be vaccinated. These are fellow citizens in homes for the elderly and infirm, workers in the social protection system and workers in the health system - said the Prime Minister, adding that after that it is the turn of the oldest citizens. So far we have ordered 5,9 million doses of vaccine, we will cover the needs of the entire population in the Republic of Croatia. Vaccination will be free and on a voluntary basis. Success in fighting the epidemic will depend on the number of people who are they vaccinated - he stressed.

Health Minister Willy Berosh reiterated that the first doses of the vaccine will arrive on December 26, and 9.750 doses of the vaccine will arrive.

- After the Agency for Drugs and Medical Devices has given its consent, the vaccination starts on December 27, 28 and 29, ie in the days of vaccination against coronavirus of the EU. The vaccine distribution plan has been developed according to the districts, Beros said.
