In Greece, the first case of monkeypox was registered in a person who did not travel abroad, with which there are signs of the transmission of the disease inside the country, the National Public Health Organization of Greece (EODI) said, the MIA correspondent from Athens reported.

According to the weekly report, as of yesterday, a total of seven cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in the country, six of which were imported.

"The seventh case is the first that did not report travel abroad and therefore has indications of internal transmission. The cases have already recovered or are recovering in a generally good clinical condition," EODI said.

They add that the danger to the general population remains low and all necessary measures have been taken to limit the spread of the disease.

The first case of monkeypox in Greece was registered at the beginning of June.
