In Germany, inflation is high, so households are struggling with expensive gasoline, diesel, electricity and rising living costs.

Stores and supermarkets now adjust the prices of the assortment at regular intervals. The price of butter in a few months rose from 1,65 to 2,29 euros. Instead of 89 cents, consumers pay as much as 4,99 euros per liter of sunflower oil.

The catering facilities were also affected by the price increases. Food and drink are more expensive than ever. Restaurant and bar owners need to pass on to guests the rising costs of electricity, heating and staff.

However, instead of raising the prices of food, wine or beverages, restaurant owners go a step further. They reduce the size of the portions and serve smaller quantities of beer and wine, reports "Phoenix" magazine, citing "Focus".

According to German media, in more and more cafes guests have to decide whether to drink a hot drink with milk or sugar. Tea and coffee, sweetened with a little milk, are sometimes up to 30 cents more expensive. And in restaurants, caterers ask guests to pay if they order, for example, ketchup or french fries mayonnaise. Supplements range from 50 cents to as much as one euro.
