Due to the alarming situation with the fires in Albania, Defense Minister Niko Peleshi reacted late this afternoon, appealing to the residents where there is a danger to life and property to evacuate when called upon by the authorities.

He wrote on Facebook that the most risky situation is in the village of Duškarak in the municipality of Selenica, where intervention is also carried out from the air with an army helicopter.

In the village where a large area has been burning since last night, three houses have burned down, but luckily there are no casualties.

- I call on the residents where there is a danger that their homes will be occupied to respect the orders of the authorities in case their evacuation is necessary. The weather conditions, the strong wind, in certain cases make it difficult for the operational forces on the ground, facing the fires. The most problematic situation is in the village of Duškarak in the municipality of Selenica, where an air force helicopter intervened from the air, Peleshi wrote.

According to him, the fire at Kurbin is being intervened from the ground and the air, the members of the army are dedicated to extinguishing the flames in the area of Skadar, in several villages in the municipality of Mat as well as in Elbasan and Valona.

According to the data of the National Operations Center for Civil Emergency Situations, 24 fires were registered in the past 26 hours, most of them are still active.
