According to the proposed program, there will be stalls for the sale of books, chestnuts, corn, seeds and more on the squares of Macedonia and Philip II, and on the Quay 13 November, in the same space where they are now, there will be nine kiosks for the sale of books.

The Council of the City of Skopje should adopt it at the next session The program for setting up kiosks and stalls in the area of Skopje for the period from 2022 to 2026, which determines three locations for installation of assembly and disassembly equipment, on the squares Makedonija and Filip Vtori, as well as on the Quay 13 November opposite the parking lot at the "Holiday Inn". It is planned to set up stalls for selling books, stalls for selling chestnuts, seeds and more at the indicated locations, and on the quay, in the same area where they are now, there will be nine kiosks for selling books.

The City believes that with the adoption of the program, the use of public space will be put in order by determining specific Xnumx places where stalls and kiosks will be located.

A total of 6 locations are provided for book stalls, of which 4 will be placed on Macedonia Square and 2 on Filip Vtori Square. For stalls for chestnuts, corn, etc. A total of seven locations are planned, 5 of which will be located on Macedonia Square and 2 on Philip II Square. A total of 9 locations are provided for book kiosks, all on Kay 13 November - it is said in the explanation of the Program.

The allocation of locations is planned to take place through a public call from the competent sector in the City of Skopje, to which all interested entities can apply by submitting written bids. Once the public call procedure is completed and the users are selected, they will be issued an approval for the installation of urban equipment.

At the beginning of April, the City of Skopje asked the sellers of old books that have been selling in the kiosks on the quay for years, to free the space from all items and to return the houses to the condition in which they were received in 2013, because for 4 years do not have active contracts. This caused great anxiety among the sellers because they did not know what to do and where to bring the thousands of books placed in the kiosks. They asked the City to allow them to stay in the wooden log houses for sale and to extend their contracts.

These beneficiaries first applied for a public tender in 2011 with a one-year contract, which was extended with an annex each year. This practice stopped on January 31.1.2018, XNUMX and these citizens were completely at the mercy. They were knowingly left without permission and agreement to use the cottages, leaving the previous management able to remove them whenever they wished. To the extent that the current situation is contrary to the regulations, it limits the competitiveness and damages the budget of the City and the citizens - say from the City of Skopje.

Therefore, the City informed the users that within 15 days they should vacate the houses from the objects they own and hand over the facilities.

In the next period, a public call will be announced where these people and all other interested parties will be able to apply for the use of public areas, ie the use of cottages - explained then the City.

Two months have passed since then, and only now will the program for setting up kiosks and stalls be carried out, and only then will a public announcement be made.

Meanwhile, some bookstores on the quay are still operating and selling old books.
