A drama is happening these days in two villages in which EVN teams are unable to enter or repair the electrical network, because some of the villagers do not like it. We are talking about Aračinovo in Skopje and Slupčane in Kumanovo. EVN confirmed the events and informed that they informed the police.

In Arachinovo, EVN tried for 6 days to start work, but as reported by the media, three people from Arachino obstructed the repairs, and 160 neighbors were left without electricity.
"Alsat" TV reported that yesterday the EVN teams received threats to their lives in the Kumanovo village of Slupčane during an attempt to start work activities for the reconstruction and modernization of the network. A crowd of 200 villagers blocked the entrance to the village in an organized manner and did not allow EVN teams to work.

EVN says that such reconstructions of the network are necessary to improve the voltage conditions and enable accurate measurement of the consumed electricity of the users in the village so that they do not face failures in the future.

– As long as users do not allow it to work, they will face supply interruptions and serious breakdowns as a result of continued network theft and abuse. Defects will be removed only if normal working conditions are created - EVN informs.

The total annual losses due to thefts in the village of Slupčane amount to over 1 million euros, that is, about 6 gigawatt-hours. Percentage wise, 80 percent of annual energy consumption is stolen, and only a third of 20 percent of billed energy is billed.
