The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo clarified tonight that the director of the Office for Kosovo under the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, has been banned from entering the country, because of the speech he uses, which is contrary to the interstate agreements signed through the mediation of the European Union, reported the correspondent of MIA from Pristina.

In the announcement of the Kosovo MFA, it is stated that "the director of the so-called Office for Kosovo under the Serbian Government has been warned that his speech contradicts the agreements (between the two countries) and consequently leads to the rejection of the request for entry into Kosovo".

- Petkovic's constantly repeated views regarding the Republic of Kosovo are of an extremely misinforming and propagandistic character and are aimed at inciting hatred. The non-issuance of a visit permit is based on Petar Petkovic's permanent non-compliance with the agreement regarding mutual visits of political representatives, signed in Brussels between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, the statement said.

Today, for the ninth time since the beginning of last year, the authorities in Pristina rejected Petkovic's request to visit Kosovo, but for the latest decision, until tonight, there was no explanation for the reasons why he was banned from entering the country.

Petkovic, according to the state Serbian television RTS, today, on the occasion of the religious holiday of Christmas, was supposed to attend the opening ceremony of the square in Severna Mitrovica that will bear the name of the Milic brothers, twins who suffered as members of the Serbian forces in the war in Kosovo in 1999. He was also supposed to visit a young Serb in the city hospital, whom the Serbian media claim was attacked and wounded with a knife by Kosovo Albanians.
