The rulership of Libra begins on September 23 and ends on October 23 when the Sun moves into the zodiac sign Scorpio. While Mercury spends part of its retrograde phase in Libra, we may find ourselves in a situation where we need to reevaluate relationship dynamics or our communication style when it comes to the relationships in our lives. As the Libra season ends on October 23rd, we will find ourselves in a period of transformations, endings and new beginnings.

On the day of the Equinox – the day autumn begins, September 23, the Sun moves from earthy Virgo to Libra, shifting our focus to our need to connect and create balance in our relationships.

The Sun moving into Libra also represents a turning point. A new season begins, and we are coming to the halfway point of the astrological year. Symbolically, it represents a shift to a higher level of consciousness. With this shift, we will be encouraged to become aware not only of how to be healthy and balanced, but also how we can create healthy and balanced relationships with others.

The rulership of Libra is the perfect time to focus on the people around us. Who supports your growth and helps you be your best? And who makes you feel bad about yourself? People are not toxic in themselves, but they can become toxic to us if conflicts remain unresolved or if we develop unhealthy relationships. Certain relationships can also become toxic if you continue to operate out of fear or ego.

Under the Sun in Libra, we will all receive support from the Universe to work on relationships that have become toxic, by setting boundaries or finding a new way to solve problems. We may have to decide if we want to keep certain people in our lives or if it's time to let them go.

Very often, challenging relationships in our lives help expose our wounds. In fact, many of us tend to take out our wounds, triggers, and insecurities on the people around us.

Unless we become aware of when we do this, it can lead to dysfunction in our relationships, and these dysfunctions sometimes clearly open our eyes to what needs to be healed or resolved within ourselves. When it comes to dealing with challenging people in our lives, sometimes it's important to remember that everyone, including you, is just doing the best they can according to their level of awareness.

Sometimes it also helps to think of challenges as parts of your soul that have come into your life to remind you of the lessons you wanted to learn and the growth you need to achieve in this life.

When we see things from this point of view, it allows us to stop shifting blame or getting caught up in what the other person is doing and instead, it allows us to think about how we can use that experience as a catalyst for growth.

This does not mean that we should learn to tolerate bad behavior. Of course, we can take this approach and still set boundaries, but sometimes it defuses tense emotions.

Relationships also very often act as a mirror, alerting us to hidden parts of ourselves, traumas, wounds or unconscious behavior. Also, certain relationships can inspire us, showing us who we want to be and how to make the most of our potential. The most significant relationships in our lives very often activate both of these areas.

These kinds of issues and topics related to our relationships can come up naturally during this period, and can be further fueled by the fact that Mercury is retrograde until October 2nd.

Mercury retrograde can reveal the past, forcing us to look at past habits, attitudes and beliefs. As Mercury spends part of its retrograde state in Libra, we may find ourselves in a situation where we need to reexamine past relationship dynamics or our communication style when it comes to the relationships in our lives.

While the focus is on our relationships, we also want to strike a balance between taking care of our needs as well as the needs of others. We want to work on being compassionate and understanding, but also assertive and willing to set boundaries if necessary. We should also focus on cooperation, not compromise.
