The government approved the increase in the price of personal documents that we all have to change

Issuance of personal documents by institutions will become more expensive after the Government approved the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), which should come into force after the announcement in the Official Gazette. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of the Interior, adding that the forms are currently issued at the prices that were valid until now.
- The price of a passport for a person up to 27 years old will remain unchanged and will continue to be 1.500 denars, but the passport for a person over 27 years old will be 2.000 denars, which is an increase of 500 denars. The price of the identity card will be 310 denars, which is an increase of 120 denars. The price of the driver's license will amount to 410 denars, which is an increase of 130 denars - the Ministry of the Interior informs.
There will be changes to prices and forms for emergency procedures.
- The price of a passport following an urgent procedure will be 6.100 denars, which is an increase of 1.600 denars. The price of a driver's license following an urgent procedure will amount to 1.230 denars, which is an increase of 390 denars - the Ministry of the Interior states.
The Ministry of the Interior justifies the change in prices with the increased purchase prices of imported forms, increased costs for maintaining the system which is carried out by a foreign economic operator, as well as due to the purchase of new machines due to the indicated need to replace worn-out personalization machines.
Until February 2024, citizens have a legal obligation to change all personal documents, on which instead of the previous name Republic of Macedonia, the new name, which derives from the Prespa Agreement with Greece, should be written, the Republic of North Macedonia. This means that citizens who have not done so before will have to change their ID card, passport, driver's license, traffic license, and vehicle registration plates.
